スタートでスタート
Everything Starts in April

学校も会社も４月から新学期、新年度のスタートです。
そこで今月はスタート３５他のボルタ判カメラです。
実際に団塊の世代のおじさん達はこれらのカメラで写真を
スタートした人も多かったのです。これらのカメラはカメラ屋よりも
子供雑誌の後ろの方の広告の通信販売で売られていました。
中には自転車の販売促進の景品になったものもありました。

So did the photography start with a Start35 and other
Bolta sized bakelite cameras among us baby boomers.

ボルタ判はドイツのボルタビットが元祖です。しかしドイツでは
それに続くカメラはありませんでしたが、日本ではボルタックスを
初めとして多くのカメラが作られ、特に戦後の一時期にはスタート３５
などのベークライトボディのカメラが少年達の入門機として愛され、
マミヤも「Ｍａｍｍｙ」という少し高級なボルタ判を作りました。
つい最近までフィルムも作られていました。

The Bolta size originated in the German "Boltavit" camera.
Although it seems few followers in Germany, the format
flourished in Japan begining with the prewar "Boltax".
It was most popular among young photographer-to-be in the
postwar era. There were Start35, Ebony35, Rich-Ray and many
others. Even Mamiya made the Mammy, the cadillac of the Boltas.

写真の中にボルタ判の二眼レフが見あたりませんね。そうです。

５月はフジペットです。
