Pete Seeger first added 3 extra frets on his Tu-ba-phone banjo
for accompanying Blues singers and other wide variety of folk
musicians. Vega Banjo co. made several models of extra long neck
banjos in the 60's. The Pete Seeger model had Tu-ba-phon tone ring
but its rim construction is different from the Tu-ba-phone and
Vegaphone models of the good old days. But it still sounds great.
