with a 35mm wide angle lens. The camera was priced less than that of a
single 35mm interchangeable lens for Leica theread mount and sold very well.
Several makers followed. Kowa, Mamiya, Minolta, Welmy and Walz. Ricoh
came later when the boom was almost over. It was likely some other makers
like Aires, Konica, Petri and Yashica made wide angle cameras but they didn't.
Kowa later went on to make wider angle cameras, Kowa SW and Kowa UW.
１９５５年に発売されたオリンパスワイドはそれまで４０ｍｍ〜５０ｍｍだった
レンズシャッタ−カメラのレンズを当時としては広角の３５ｍｍレンズをつけて
発売し、スナップでの使いやすさとライカ用レンズ単体よりも安い価格で人気を
呼んだ。その後露出計をつけたワイドＥ、Ｆ２という明るいレンズをつけたワイ
ドス−パ−とバリエ−ションを増やした。他のメ−カ−も少し遅れて続いたが、
オリンパスほどの成功は得られなかったようである。その中でも最初に続いた
コ−ワのカロワイドはコンツ−ルタイプの外付けファインダ−を用意するなど、
意欲的であった。コ−ワはその後も28mmレンズをつけたコ−ワＳＷやさらには
超広角の19mmレンズをつけた一眼レフタイプのコ−ワＵＷまで発売した。
